Last year, Kinfolk Magazine moved their office from Portland to Copenhagen, and hired Norm Architects to create an efficient, elegant, and minimalist space that mirrors the look of the Kinfolk magazines and books perfectly.
The Line just opened its third store, or should I say apartment, and this time they moved out to Amagansett for the summer. They’re sticking to their unique concept of filling a home with an inspiring selection of high-end furniture, home accents, clothing, and accessories, and putting it all up for sale.
The Scandinavian style is known for its minimalism, natural materials and white walls. But the last couple of years, dark walls have become more and more popular, and it seems like the trend is here to stay. Most often, I opt for white walls, trim and ceiling, since it helps bounce light around the room and makes it feel more spacious. It also provides the perfect backdrop for art, and tends to unify all the other elements in a room.
We did it! We finished the update of our design studio. When we got our new office in Potrero Hill, Lotta Coffey Design & Interiors moved in with a landscape design firm that already had been in the space for several years. We devised a new layout that worked for everybody, but soon realized the office needed an update to function well
We’ve outgrown our house, and we’ve been looking for a new one since May last year, without any luck. The real estate prices here in San Francisco are insane, but even if we were able to disregard the hefty price tags for a minute, we haven’t even been able to find a house we’d like to live in.
My seven year old son, Cal, came home the other day with a big grin on his face and this lovely bouquet of flowers in his hand. He had picked them on a school trip to the park, and he was very proud. We placed the blooms on a small table in our kitchen, so we all could see and enjoy them.
City Picture Frame is one of the best framing shops in town. When I went there the other day, to figure out a frame for an oil painting, I spotted an amazing gallery wall full of (mostly) black and white art. It turned out all the pieces on the wall were made by the same artist, John Mayberry, who has his studio in the building.
Easter is coming up, and the chickens know it. Why else would they lay such colorful eggs? These green, brown, orange and pink ones are the gifts of the Bay Natives hens, and they are as colorful on the inside as they are on the outside.
The need/read, want/wear blog classic, nicely sums up what I’m coveting right now. Need: For my dry lips, Aesop’s lip cream is the only thing that works. And packaged in a tube, it’s just a little more fun than the average lip balm. Read: The first book by street-style-queen-blogger, Garance Dore´, is on my nightstand.
One of my favorite stores is having a sale on one of my favorite brands! Zinc Details on Fillmore street is offering 15% off on classic Knoll furniture Friday, February 20 – Tuesday, March 3. I’ve had a “thing” for the Wassily chair since I was 10 years old, and last year two of them finally moved in with us.
A while ago I came across some pictures by the Russian photographer Alexandra Bachkareva. Her luminous portraits show the natural beauty of freckles and I thought the images would be perfect for a book. Imagine my surprise when I found out a new coffee table book celebrating freckles is coming out in time for Christmas.
